Another accreditation for CSG!
The ISO 14001 certification is the latest accreditation awarded to the CSG Group.
This certification is testament to the hard work and commitment of both staff and directors at the company, in particular Maxine Gott who is the company’s S.H.E. Manager and Lindsey Butterworth Director and Company Secretary. Both have been heavily involved since the process started in October 2007. Maxine stated, “Once the company had committed to the project, we knew it would be hard work. Both Lindsey and I initially had to attend an EMS training course to be able to fully understand all the elements that are required to achieve the ISO standard.”
Once again the company appreciated that there would be an initial financial investment required to bring the Head Office and its utility services into line with the requirements for the ISO standards but that this would be offset by the subsequent savings made throughout the company including everything from the building utilities to fuel and maintenance monitoring of the vehicle fleet.
Due to the geographical area covered by the Cleaning, Catering and Vending operations, the vehicle fleet and packaging waste produced are the two main impacts the company has on the environment and subsequently CSG now has a “cradle to grave” management programme for all its waste.
“We appreciate aspects of our business have an impact on the environment and must therefore make every effort to reduce any resulting adverse effects. Our certification of ISO 14001 confirms our commitment via an environmental management system to reducing our carbon footprint locally and nationally for the future of the environment and CSG” stated Lindsey Butterworth Director/Company Secretary
The final assessment was carried out in April over three days in which all qualifying aspects were assessed - which even included mini interviews of head office staff regarding their understanding of the ISO 14001 principles that had been implemented on site.
Not only has the Head Office been assessed as to its compliance but also on its commitment to filter the ISO14001 principles onto the sites the company works on.
The hard work doesn’t stop there, now CSG has successfully achieved the accreditation there is a continual audit process in place that requires on site visits every six months which take between one and two days to complete.
