CSG has spread its charitable wings and has organised one and sponsored another charity event in the North East from our Office based on the Team Valley in Gateshead.
The first was a charity football match held at Darlington Football Club on Sunday 9th May where well known celebrities and ex footballers such as John Beresford, Rob Lee, Steve Watson, Kevin Richardson and one time world’s most expensive player, Gaizka Mendieta, gave up their time to play against TV’s Ralf Little, and Corrie’s Tyrone and Jason Grimshaw among others.
Over 700 people attended the event which CSG happily sponsored and managed to raise an impressive £3000.00.
The generosity of the celebrities helped formulate the second idea which was to use footballing contacts to set up a question and answer session for invitees to put their questions to John Beresford (ex Newcastle & England) and Steve Howey (ex Newcastle & England) in an intimate gathering at the Magpie Suite at Newcastle United’s St James’s Park where not only could the invited guests chat to the players but also have the opportunity to win several of the items signed at the earlier football match.
Held on Wednesday the 26th May the event was a great success with the players sharing many amusing stories and happily answering any questions asked of them, one of the highlights of the evening was the draw for the signed shirt, the lucky winner being Gordon Straughan from the North East Family Health Service Agency.
At this point we would like to thank all those that attended the event, not forgetting those that helped organise the event both hosting and behind the scenes as days of preparation was required to make sure the evening ran smoothly.
Special thanks go to John Beresford and Steve Howey for making the event possible, and raising £400 which added to the money raised at the charity football match makes a total of £3400 raised for the Help for Heroes charity.
Simon Midgley, Chief Executive, stated “CSG as a company appreciate our position and have over the last few years increased our charitable fund raising events. We do of course realise these events help promote CSG as a brand but more importantly they help us show our appreciation to organisations that hold to the same fundamental principles of our own family run company. Those are to offer the best service possible by going the extra mile, and who can deny that although on a much more dynamic and dangerous scale that is exactly what our armed forces are doing across the globe. The Help for Heroes charity could not be a more worthwhile and needed charitable institution and we at CSG are proud to help support these events.”
Keep an eye out for our next World Cup themed news letter as there will be an opportunity to win several signed football related items for these events!
