As a company we have committed to purchasing a number of Fairtrade items. Fairtrade is the only consumer label that focuses on ensuring farmers in developing countries receive an agreed and stable price for their crops as well as getting additional income to invest for the future. We are finding more and more that customers recognise the logo on products and are keen to support Fairtrade.
Items that we sell include, orange juice, cakes and biscuits, chocolate, dried fruits and nuts - and the list will keep growing to meet our customer’s demands.
We support our commitment to Fairtrade by stocking some of the following products:
Established in 2005 ‘One’ Water, the official water of Live8 and Make Poverty History, is endorsed by celebrities including BBC actors Claire Goose and David Tennant. All profits that Global Ethics make from the sale of 'One' water goes directly to the PlayPumps charity, which is committed to providing clean, safe running water for African villages.
PlayPumps are installed in villages over boreholes. When children play on the roundabout, it transfers energy into vertical or reciprocal motion, pumping water from an underground borehole up to a storage tank which is connected to a tap.
Not only does this mean that communities have a free, clean, sustainable water supply, but children go to school rather than spending time collecting water, and women can look after their crops and families.
