Windows - how many old wives tales are there about streak free windows? Lets be honest it’s almost impossible to get them streak free, so if you can’t beat it cheat it! Use vertical strokes outside and horizontal strokes for the inside - this way you can tell which side still has streaks. Neat vinegar will get the outside clean but don’t clean them on a warm, sunny day as they will dry too quickly and streak.- Too lazy to clean but want it to smell like you have? Spray a little perfume on the light bulb of any room and then when you switch it on the heat from the bulb spreads the lovely scent giving a clean fresh smell!
- Heavy night out? Housework to do the morning after? Take two Alka Seltzer for your head and drop two more down the toilet - wait twenty minutes, brush, flush and hey presto!
Do you hate how Tupperware stains if you put any kind of tomato sauce in it? Simply spray with 1 Cal Cooking Spray before adding the tomato based food and there won’t be any stains.- This isn’t strictly a cleaning tip but it will save some money. If you have a romantic evening with candles planned, put the candles in the freezer for 3 hours before lighting and they’ll last all night!
- Do you have small children who like to crayon on your walls? Get a damp rag dip it in baking soda and rub - off it comes!
- Is the shower growing its own plant life? Shut the cubicle door and run on hot for 5 minutes - steam cleaning without the need for a machine then simply wipe down.
- Another use for Alka Seltzer is to clean your jewellery - simply put two tablets into a glass of water and immerse the items for two minutes - back to shiny in a jiffy!
- When you dust start from the top and work down - but when wall washing - start from the bottom and work up to avoid streaking.
- We’ll categorize these as one because the same product is used for all the tips. A sheet of Bounce or similar will, because it is designed to eliminate static, keep dust from settling back on your TV screen if wiped over with a used sheet. Wipe your shower door with a used sheet of Bounce to dissolve soap scum. It will even collect cat/dog hair - simply wipe over the area and all the hair will be attracted to the sheet. Possibly the best kept secret is that if you wipe your venetian blinds with a sheet of Bounce it will stop dust from resettling.
